Ms. Merkel has represented small and large clients in both state and federal courts. Before joining the firm, Ms. Merkel served as a law clerk to United States District Judge David G. Larimer, where she handled both civil and criminal matters.

Prior to relocating to the Rochester area from Washington, D.C., Ms. Merkel worked as an attorney advisor for the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, an independent federal agency that adjudicates OSHA citations and penalties. Ms. Merkel also served as in-house counsel for an international labor union, where she specialized in labor relations and employment issues.

Ms. Merkel handles civil litigation, including commercial litigation, employment litigation, ERISA matters, and electronic discovery. She is recognized by Upstate New York Super Lawyers Magazine in the areas of Business Litigation; Employment Litigation, Defense; and General Litigation.
